How To Apply

The first step in the application process is the submission of a Concept Letter. In addition to the Concept Letter Cover Page (available below), please provide:

  • your response (in no more than three pages total) to the following four questions, with each response keyed to the appropriate question:

1.What is the organization and its mission?

2.What is the program for which funding is sought?

3.Who will the program serve?

4.How the program will be evaluated? Please including a brief description of the measurable indicators of success

  • a copy of the first two pages of the Applicant’s most recent IRS Form 990;
  • a simple program budget, including revenue and expenses, specifying the sources of revenue, identifying other grant sources (anticipated and secured). At this time a complete line item budget is not needed. A sample budget format is supplied with the Concept Letter Cover Page download.

Please do NOT send additional materials such as newspaper clippings, annual reports, newsletters, CDs or DVDs.

Please do not use binders. Paper clips are preferred to staples.

Two complete copies of this information must be submitted, with one copy sent to each of the following addresses:

Within two to three weeks of receiving the Concept Letter, The Foundation will acknowledge receipt via e-mail, using the address provided on the Cover Sheet. If you wish earlier acknowledgment, please utilize Delivery Confirmation or other services offered by the Postal Service.

Normally the Foundation will make a decision on the Applicant’s Concept Letter within 60 days of receipt. If the Foundation believes the Concept Letter describes a program which meets the Foundation’s criteria, the Foundation may ask the Applicant to submit a completed Application for Funding. At the time of such request, the Foundation will provide the Application Form along with other necessary information.

The Foundation will accept, and act upon Concept Letters at any time during the year.

The Trustees, at their discretion, may defer consideration of a grant request to a future date.
